Most babies quickly become experts at pulling hats off their heads in record time. LANACare's balaclava-style Organic Wool Nelson Hat is the perfect hat for ensuring baby's head stays covered. The hat's super soft organic merino wool feels almost like pillowy fleece. It easily pulls over baby's head and fits snugly to protect the head, ears, and neck from the cold.
Keeping a baby's head warm is absolutely essential. The baby's head is larger (as compared to adults) in relation to its body, so a baby can lose a lot of body heat through its large head. If that happens, the baby will spend more of its energy trying to stay warm rather than using the energy for brain and body development.
Because wool is naturally self-cleaning, this hat is actually quite easy to care for. A good airing-out once in awhile is all organic wool needs. If the woolen does become soiled, we recommend hand washing or machine washing on a gentle cycle with lanolin soap. Never put your woolen in the dryer because this will cause the hat to shrink!

At UrthChild, we are big believers in keeping babies warm. Woolens are a necessity, especially in colder climates and during the wintertime. Babies and young children do not have the ability to sense and express that they are cold, and if the child is not dressed warmly enough, the child will expend more energy keeping the body warm rather than developing the brain! A good rule of thumb is to dress your child in a woolen underlayer during the months with an "R" in the spelling.Because clothing made from organic wool is almost entirely hypo-allergenic, is breathable, keeps baby's skin dry, is naturally flame resistant, and doesn't need to be washed frequently, it is far superior to any synthetic fabric and much warmer than cotton. We recommend having one wool Nelson hat. Because woolens rarely need to be washed, you can simply air the hat out at night so it will be fresh and ready for another day of play! You'll love having this woolens; it will give you peace of mind that your child is cozy and warm.
