The hat's super soft organic merino wool feels almost like pillowy fleece. It easily pulls over baby's head and fits snugly to protect the head, ears, and neck from the cold.
Keeping a baby's head warm is absolutely essential. The baby's head is larger (as compared to adults) in relation to its body, so a baby can lose a lot of body heat through its large head. If that happens, the baby will spend more of its energy trying to stay warm rather than using the energy for brain and body development.
Because wool is naturally self-cleaning, this hat is actually quite easy to care for. A good airing-out once in awhile is all organic wool needs. If the woolen does become soiled, we recommend hand washing or machine washing on a gentle cycle with lanolin soap. Never put your woolen in the dryer because this will cause the hat to shrink!
