This one-of-a-kind necklace, created exclusively for UrthChild, will be featured in a future issue of Cookie Magazine.
From Parisian Mathilde de Turckheim's "La menagerie" collection and made especially for UrthChild, this rabbit doll necklace is all charm and elegance. The vintage Japanese silk rabbit doll is holding a little purse in one hand. In the other hand, the rabbit holds the perfect Parisian accessory: a little cake on a plate. Swarovski crystals, moonstones, peridot, tourmaline, calcedoine, rhinestones, and glass beads offer the perfect accoutrements to this sophisticated bunny. The pendant hangs on woven threads of silk.
This heirloom necklace was handcrafted by the artist herself. The creativity, intention, and whimsy that Mathilde pours into each of her designs will inspire you every time you or your loved one wears this piece.

I've never seen a necklace with a French gateau on it, and I don't think I ever will. What more can a girl want?! I don't know how Mathilde de Turckheim did it, but she created a necklace that is to die for--meltingly adorable. Like any of Mathilde's vivid handmade jewelry pieces, this pendant is a conversation piece and would make the perfect gift for the girl or lady who has everything.
Although Mathilde's jewelry isn't organic, she is an excellent example of a great new eco-friendly trend called upcycling. She takes old, vintage materials and turns them into something new and exciting. So, although this necklace isn't organic, we love how it is upcycled...plus we're suckers for anything handmade!
• No excess packaging
• Upcycled item created through the use of recycled and vintage materials
Mathilde de Turckheim uses a variety of materials, both new and vintage, to create her upcycled, one-of-a-kind jewelry creations. Vintage fabrics, wool, semi-precious stones, silk, Swarovski crystals, and wooden and papier-mache beads are some of Mathilde's favorite materials. Mathilde's materials are all free from lead.
Mathilde de Turckheim is a Parisian jewelry designer who was born in Beirut, raised in France, spent several years in West Africa, and now resides in New York City. Living in such rich and varied cultures fueled Mathilde's imagination at an early age and inspire her vibrant and bold creations.
After studying painting, drawing, and jewelry design at various Parisian ateliers, Mathilde spent nine years selling high-end Italian textiles to French designers. In 2004, Mathilde launched her own line of vintage handmade jewelry. Her collections feature one-of-a-kind necklaces that taunt the imagination with their counter-play of exotic colors, ethnic touches, and charming femininity. Rich in texture, each design evokes a world that exists only in Mathilde's playful imagination.
At UrthChild, we recently decided to begin featuring artists who specialize in handmade, upcycled, one-of-a-kind pieces to support the creative spirit and bring items to you that were made with intention, love, and spirit. Mathilde and her jewelry fit this vision perfectly! We currently feature work from Mathilde's "Une histoire entre poupees", "La Menagerie", "Les papillons dans votre coeur", and "Liberty" collections. We worked closely with Mathilde, who created several exclusive designs for UrthChild. Apprecier!
