Smiling Planet purchases unused plastic scraps generated by the manufacturing process at a medical parts factory. These scraps are recycled into the new material for their plates. Medical grade polypropylene exceeds the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) standards for food contact, and Smiling Planet knows of no safer plastic.
