Under the Nile's cotton is certified biodynamic, which is the strictest method of organic farming in the world. Advocates of biodynamic cultivation maintain that the organic cotton in Under the Nile's clothing retains the positive life force of the cotton plant and its interconnectedness with the soil, sun, moon, planets, water, and other living beings. For parents, this means that Under the Nile is a brand that you can feel comfortable dressing your child in, knowing that its origins were holistic, positive, and healthy. This really is the perfect line of clothing for baby's transition from your womb to the outside world.

Janice Masoud founded Under the Nile in 1998 after spending years as a fashion designer. While working for other design firms, Janice noticed that her own children started developing sensitivities to conventional cotton clothing products. After delving into research on conventional cotton, Janice learned that many chemicalsfrom pesticides to fertilizers to toxic dyesare present in conventional cotton clothing, affecting the health and wellbeing of the wearer.
Dismayed by the lack of available organic baby clothing options, Janice and her husband Mohammed traveled to Egypt where some of the best cotton in the world is grown. They formed a partnership with SEKEM Initiative Farm, a model community for biodynamic agriculture. Ten years later, Janice continues to design beautiful, functional, and practical organic baby clothes, toys, and bedding from her base in California, while her partners in Egypt bring the cotton from the biodynamic fields and sew them into Under the Nile's beautiful product line, which includes newborn necessity clothing, crib sheets, toys, rompers, and dresses.
